Johnson County, Indiana is a wonderful place to live and work.
I was born at Johnson Memorial Hospital and have lived here all of my life. Today, I live and work in historic downtown Franklin. I am blessed to be close to family and friends in my hometown.
While Johnson County is a great Hoosier community, we face challenges. We are one of Indiana’s fastest-growing counties, which is exciting. But the growth continues to strain local governments — especially at the county level.
Although the overall US economy seems to be improving slowly with recent increases in property values and US unemployment dropping, remnants from the 2008-2009 “Great Recession” are still present in our everyday lives. Despite the subtle improvements in the economy, the burdens placed on our county services pose continued challenges.
The omnipresent question is how to fairly pay for the demanding needs for local government services such as infrastructure and public safety without creating excessive financial burdens on taxpayers?
I believe the answers continue to require comprehensive planning and collaborative leadership. County government cannot have a piecemeal approach to land use, road improvements, economic development and law enforcement.
I believe proactive approaches will serve us best in the long term.
I enjoy being part of the long-term solutions for Johnson County government and appreciate the opportunity to be part of the next generation of leadership.
Your support continues to make that happen. I thank you and invite you to get involved.
